World Hunger Day 2024 At Daisy!
Food is a constitutional right, not a privilege.
Did you know?
The right to food is enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa under Section 27 (1) (b), which states that "everyone has the right to have access to sufficient food and water".
Yet, on World Hunger Day, we confront the harsh reality of hunger in South Africa. In 2021, 2.1 million households (11.6%) faced hunger. Heartbreakingly, over half a million of these households include children under five. This is an urgent humanitarian crisis demanding our immediate attention and action.
Hunger hits children hardest, stunting their growth and development. Malnutrition among our youngest is devastating, robbing them of a healthy future. We must act now to break this cycle of suffering.
Businesses and organisations have the power to change lives. By providing meals, donating food, and supporting food security programs, we can offer hope and sustenance to those in need. Every act of kindness counts.
At Daisy Business Solutions, we are committed to fighting hunger. This World Hunger Day, we distributed 5000 sandwiches to underprivileged communities, showing that collective action can make a big difference. We urge other organisations to join us.
Join us in this critical mission. Every contribution helps. Together, we can create a future without hunger.
